A visit to school

Today, I walked those familiar streets again,

The ones that guided me to school back then.

Once hurried, now no longer a rush in my pace.

Every step holding memories of those old times.

Everything was different yet oddly the same

The guard uncle scolding us on being late,

The food stalls, once a comfort, now nowhere in sight.

Walking these premises, no longer a student felt strange.

Those halls, once alive with students playing games,

The rush to class after the tiffin break,

The fights with friends, over the silliest of things,

The dreams that flourished here, all came back to me.

The heart of school life lay in my teachers' care,

Believing in me, guiding me, and being always there.

Their scoldings, their guidance, their belief in me,

To this day gave me sense of relief.

This place is where I grew up,

Learned so many lessons, and found my way.

This might not be my daily retreat anymore,

It still is my second home, in every way.
